VERRA
It is world's leading widely used voluntary GHG. It reduces carbon footprint through energy efficiency. Entities can reduce carbon footprint in the carbon market by neutralizing or offsetting emissions. Once project satisfy VCS rigorous mechanism, project developers is issued VCU or voluntary carbon units
It covers various standardized methods under development or new methods. It has validation and verification mechanism. Upon satisfaction of above processes, VCU certification is issued which is globally traded.
Gold standard GS
Gold standard is a higher standard for climate secure and sustainable world. It also measures emissions, reductions and offsets to support to support the transition to a low carbon sustainable future.
One of the ways it's been suggested air travellers can reduce the impact they have on the environment is through carbon offsetting their flights. Carbon offsets are voluntary schemes where people can pay to 'offset' or make up for the emissions that their flights produce
Global carbon council
